Since 1965, Michigan Church Supply has worked to restore delicate and unique chalices just like yours. Our craftsmen build, repair and refinish chalices. They are experts in the field - not just metal polishers. We take pride in catering to every detail and providing the best service for your specific needs.
We are able to work on most all domestically or internationally produced chalices, and are well versed in working on chalices where the original manufacturer is out of business such as older American and European silversmiths and craftsmen.
Need to know more? See below for the multi-step process we use to care for your chalice. Please keep in mind that just as each chalice is unique, so is each restoration project. Exact timing and procedure will be determined on a case by case basis.
The Restoration Process
1) Complete disassembly of the entire chalice.
2) Adjustments and repairs completed for all broken, or damaged parts.
3) Minor repairs made to dents, dings, scrapes, etc. as necessary.
4) Fabrication or casting of any replacement missing parts completed, with customer approval.
5) Perform chemical cleaning of all parts to prepare them for replating.
6) Replate and polish all parts to match original piece, or differently per customer instructions.
7) Remove all polishing compounds, using a custom designed cleaning process, avoiding any harsh chemicals or solvents which would be harmful to the users, chalice, or environment.
8) Reassemble the chalice, taking care to confirm that all components are properly adjusted and aligned.
9) Inspect the assembled chalice and ship to the customer.
